FRED KENNEDY Obituary
FRED KENNEDY Fred John Kennedy, 92, of Las Vegas, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2012. Fred was born in Salt Lake City, March 4, 1920, to Ann and John Kennedy. Almost an 80-year resident of Las Vegas, he was married to the love of his life, Betty Hall, April 16, 1942. Fred worked for his father at L&K Markets, a grocery store on Second St. and Bridger Ave. Fred enlisted and spent four years in the U.S. Navy. He then spent the next several years opening businesses of his own. Fred and his late brother "Bud" Kennedy founded Turf Equipment Supply Company. He was an avid golfer and traveler. Fred was a former member of Spanish Trails and the Las Vegas Country Club and spent many of his earlier years piloting his own plane. Fred entertained an amazing perspective on life, always having a joke ready for anyone willing to listen. His colorful personality was unforgettable to those who knew him. Fred left a lasting impression on those who not only knew him well, but those who were fortunate enough to just make his acquaintance. His philosophy late in life was, "Well, I made it another day. What's there to complain about?" He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 70 years, Betty Kennedy; sons, Fred (Pam) Kennedy and Steve Kennedy; daughters, Renee (Jim) Lindsay and Judy Dietrich; grandchildren, Leslie, Ben, Jimmy, Heather, Amy, Bryan, Hillary, Ashton, Kyle, Stephen, Steve and Kristina; and 11 great-grandchildren. Viewing and memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. For more information, please visit www.palmmortuary.com
