GENE FOGELMAN Gene "Sonny" Fogelman was born July 6, 1931 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Rose Citrin and Harry Fogelman, a lead violinist on WNYC radio in New York City. Gene passed away Aug. 13, 2012 after a short illness. Gene was a free spirit, a man of the world who often left an impression on those who knew him. He will always be remembered for his clever wit, humor and his knowledge abroad. Gene held various professions in his life, including a TV repairman in California during the 1960's, a furniture designer in New York City during the 1970's and a real estate salesman developer in Pennsylvania during the 1980's. Gene decided to settle down and retired in sunny Las Vegas in 1990. Gene enjoyed Dixieland jazz music and was an avid clarinet player. He also enjoyed lake fishing while puffing on his pipe and was also a cigar aficionado. Gene became a boxing manager in the 1970's and was often sought out for his expertise in the sport. He is survived by his two children, Cal Daniel Fogelman and Cindy May Fogelman Annese; his granddaughter, Sara Rose Annese; his sister, Pauline Singer; and several loyal friends. There will be a tribute to Gene at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 9, at the E-String, 2031 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, arranged by his devoted friends.
