  GEORGE NEWELL George A Newell, 95, of Las Vegas, passed away June 26, 2012. He was born Dec. 23, 1916 in East Chicago, Ind. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 53 years, Kit. He is survived by his children, Ron (Maria), Georgia Gainer (Mitch) Terry Benzel and Tom (Patti); grandchildren, Eric, Mark, Michelle, Jody, Erin, Holly, Tommy Jr., Jimmy and Chris; and 18 great-grandchildren. He moved to Las Vegas in 1951 to work at the El Rancho Vegas as a roulette dealer. In his career he worked at the Riviera, Flamingo and The Hilton Hotel from where he retired as a pit boss in 1981. After retiring, he and Kit traveled extensively in their RV for 12 years visiting 43 of the 50 states. He will be missed by his friends and loved ones. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, July 2, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial following at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
