1933 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
HARRIET CUDDY Harriet Frances Cuddy, 84, beloved wife, mother, great-grandmother and friend, joined the Lord, her devoted husband, and her eldest son, Dennis, August 27, 2017. Born in 1933, Portland, Oregon, Harriet was a 60-year resident of Las Vegas who was recruited to teach at John S. Park Elementary School upon graduating from the University of Idaho-Moscow. She later spent more than two decades serving as an executive secretary for former Nevada Power presidents Chuck Lenzie and Steve Ragazio. Known as "Grammie" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Harriet enthusiastically supported their passions while actively following her own. Harriet was a gardener, avid reader and wordsmith who believed in the power of a handwritten, cursive letter. She "twittered" through a pen and 5" x 7" note cards. Receiving a card in Harriet's beautiful handwriting was truly a gift. Harriet joyfully served her family, friends and community. She was a church lector and choir member, a member of the Mesquite Club, PEO Chapter P, Pi Beta Phi and OLLV Women's Guild. She, Bill and their dearest friends were also members of the Holy Family Retreat Association and Married Carmeliers. Harriet remained close to her lifelong friends at Madeleine Grade School in Portland, Oregon, and relished visiting Rockaway Beach, Oregon for class reunions. She also enjoyed attending plays, particularly musicals, with her girlfriends at The Smith Center. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, William T. "Bill" Cuddy; her eldest son, Dennis; and her parents, LeRoy and Dorothy Regan. She is survived by her children, Sheila (Steve) Scarborough, Michael (Rany) Cuddy, Shauna (Greg) Walch and Ryan Cuddy; her grandchildren, Kaice, Hayley, Kelye, Patrick, Caitlin, Rowan and Quin; and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Avery. Remembrance Vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 15, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89129. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 16, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be sent in memory of Harriet Cuddy to the Mesquite Club, 702 E. St. Louis, Las Vegas, NV 89104.
