HAZEL BASTIAN Hazel Susie Bastian, 96, a 12-year resident of Heritage Assisted Living, Las Vegas, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in her sleep from causes related to Dementia and Alzheimer's. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Alice Quigley Bastian of Las Vegas; nephews, Jerold "Jerry" David Bastian of Oxnard, Calif., Jon "Jack" Arnold Bastian of Las Vegas; and a niece, Emma Olivia Ascott Bastian of Santa Rosa, Calif. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Frances O'Brien Bastian; her brother, W. James Bastian; her father, Willard Arnold Bastian; and her oldest nephew, James "Jamie" William Bastian. Susie leaves behind many new friends from Heritage Assisted Living, Las Vegas, who enjoyed her company, wit and smile. Susie retired from UCLA Anderson School of Business Management after 48 years of service to UCLA. Susie was a graduate of the University of Rochester, N.Y., and continued to recruit students for Rochester during her years on the west coast. She was a member of the National Federation of Republican Women-Malibu and was a loyal friend to many of her UCLA associates. Services were previously held. Hazel will certainly be missed.
