HELEN MARTER Helen Geneva Marter, 90, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at her home. Helen was born Helen Torres, Jan. 3, 1922, in Tulsa, Okla., to Fidel Torres and Felicitas Torres. She had three brothers and three sisters. The family resided in the Tulsa area. Helen met and alter married Gilbert "Bill" John Marter, May 4, 1942. They lived a wonderful and full life in the military, both domestic and internationally. Through her life, not only was she a soulmate to Bill, but a loving and inspirational mother to her daughters. She worked at various positions at U.S. Air Force Exchanges and was a valuable employee at the American Embassy in Venezuela. She believed in giving back to her community and throughout her life volunteered endlessly at various organizations. Her involvement from the Red Cross to the Red hats gave her the opportunity to develop everlasting friends, all the time believing to live life to the fullest through healthy living, exercise, and sports. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Norman and husband, Ron of Las Vegas and Terri Albin and husband, Sterling of Houston; granddaughter, Stacey Buttle and husband, Joseph of Washington; grandsons, Larry Graff and wife, Rhonda of Las Vegas and Shaun Albin and wife, Amber of Oregon; great-grandchildren, Joe Buttle of Alabama, Jenna Mort and husband, Michael of Ohio, Brandon Graff of Las Vegas, Breanna Graff of Las Vegas, Isabella Albin of California, and Amelia Albin of Oregon; great-great-grandchildren, Isaac, Caleb, Treyson and Dominic; sons, of Jenna and Michael Mort of Ohio; brother, Bill Torres of Oklahoma; and sister, Delores Tharp of Texas. Helen is also survived and will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews she felt made her life complete with their everlasting love. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 13, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Burial to take place at a later date in Phoenix, at National Memorial Cemetery.
