HERBERT RATZBURG Obituary
iconSMSGT HERBERT RATZBURG U.S. Air Force, Retired Herbert J. Ratzburg, 69, senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force (ret.), of North Las Vegas, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, after a brief illness at Centennial Hospital. He was born in Ashland, Ky., Nov. 17, 1943. He was the son of the late Richard and Frances Ratzburg. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Diana, for 49 years. Herb was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved fishing, hunting and sports. He enjoyed his annual fishing trip to Minnesota with his family and friends. Herb provided 44 years of service to his country as an intelligence analyst. He served 22 of those years in the U.S. Air Force. During this time, he spent two tours in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Herb then served 22 years in civil service, including his last 15 years at the 507 Air Defense Aggressor Squadron at Nellis AFB. Herb will be remembered for his funny jokes, famous quotes, nicknames and how he could make everyone smile. He is survived by his brother, Bill (Dawn) Ratzburg of Moline, Ill.; sisters, Katy Ratzburg (partner, Alan Williams) of Milwaukee, and Fran (Tim) Galow of Appelton, Wis.; one daughter, Yvonne (Barry) Romitti of Tuscon, Ariz., and one son, Richard (Fiance McKenzie) of Bellevue, Neb.; and 11 grandchildren. Memorial services and Mass will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2575 W. El Campo Grande Ave., N. Las Vegas.
