HERBERT SCHORY Herbert Schory, 83, of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 21, 2012. He was born in Colonial Park, Pa. to Alexander and Esther Shive Schory. Following his father's footsteps, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for 20 years in electronics, communication and cryptography. While on shore leave in 1951, he met the love of his life, Margaret Wells at a New Year's Eve party given by Margaret's relatives who lived across the street from Herb's relatives. They were married in Carson City May 29, 1952 and later solemnized that union in the LDS Los Angeles Temple. Though the U.S. Navy took them from Virginia to Alaska, most of their married life was spent in San Diego and, for the past 20 years, in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; and brothers, Alexander and Richard. He is survived by his three children, David (Sharon) of Texas, Kathryn (Roland) Blose of Las Vegas, and Faye (David) Orme of Oregon; grandchildren, Bethany, Heather, Samuel, Charity, Nathan, Diane, Kevin, John, Zachary, Matthew and Dalena; great-grandchildren, Braden, Grayson, Jacob and Joshua; and his sisters, Sally Karr and June Moran. Visitation at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, with services following at noon. Both at LDS Church, 1825 N. Hollywood Ave. Burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Donations to LDS Perpetual Education Fund or a charity close to your heart. We trust that Mom's up there finally teaching him how to dance and that he's sharing his love of the stars with her from a whole new vantage point.
