 ILA MAE GUSTIN Ila Mae Leavitt Gustin, 92, of Las Vegas, passed away Aug. 2, 2012, at home, failing to recover from a broken hip. A pioneer Las Vegan, she was born Jan. 15, 1920, the 12th of 15 children, in Mesquite, and was a 92-year resident of Nevada. She married Art Gustin in November 1937. They bought their home at 10 E. Bonanza Road, in the Biltmore section, which was the first track in Vegas. She lived and raised her children there for 47 years, then moved to her small home next to her daughter, Kay, in the northwest part of the valley, where she lived for 28 years. After raising her children, she worked as a maid at the Golden Gate Hotel and was quickly promoted to housekeeper. Ila Mae was a devout Mormon and held many positions and leadership callings in the church. She also served at the LDS Temple for more than eight years. Ila Mae was an angel on Earth and now she is an angel in Heaven and will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Gustin. She is survived by her two brothers, Gene Leavitt and Jim Leavitt; son, William Gustin; daughters, Kay Warren, Betty Webster and Toni Berry; and 75 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17. at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be Saturday, Aug. 18, with a family viewing at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m., at the LDS Chapel, 10070 Azure, Las Vegas.
