JACOB DETLOFF Obituary
JACOB DETLOFF Jacob Daniel Detloff, 32, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012. He was born Jan. 16, 1980, in Bellingham, Wash. A 2003 UNLV graduate, Jacob earned his bachelor of science in elementary education and his master's degree from Nova Southeastern University in educational leadership. Jacob graduated from Monroe High School in 1998, where he played tennis and soccer. Jacob worked for the Clark County School District at Ruby Thomas Elementary School, where he adored his students and held his co-workers in high regard. Jacob is survived by his beloved wife, Lindsay Detloff; parents, Dan and Liz Detloff; sisters, Sara (Dan) Wells and Meggie (Jeremy) Kotthoff; grandparents, Evelyn McKale, Jim and Jan Larkin; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. Jacob had a bright outlook on life and simply radiated something special. He had an incredible personality, a keen sense of humor and always brought a smile to everyone's face around him. Jacob was a true comedian at heart and there was never a dull moment with him around. He touched so many lives and will forever be in our hearts. Jacob loved and treasured his family and was so proud of the life and home he and Lindsay built together. He cherished all the times he was able to spend with the ones he loved and nothing made him happier than being with family. Jacob will be missed most for his generosity, his remarkable sense of humor, his enthusiasm, and his devotion to his family and friends. His life was filled with love, adventure and accomplishments. His shining spirit will carry on with us forever. His life may have been short, but his impact was great. There will be a celebration of life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson. There will be a second service Saturday, Dec. 15, in Snohomish, Wash. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HELP of Southern Nevada www.helpsonv.org or mailed to 1640 E.
