JAMES BLAIR JR. James "Jim" Leroy Blair Jr., 61, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 18, 2013. A long-time resident of Las Vegas, he served in the U.S. Army and received the Air Medal along with many other medals for service in the Vietnam War in 1971. A life-long carpenter and family man, he was preceded in death by his wife, of 30 years, Cher. He is survived by his daughters, Erikka and Salina; granddaughters, Alayna and Tori; mother and father, Jack and Nell of Las Vegas; sisters and brothers of Las Vegas, Jackie, Pam, Susan, Randy and Ronnie; father, James, of Nebraska; sisters and brothers of Nebraska, Margie, Bev, Red, Ted and William; and many other family members. "Dad, I thought you would live forever. You told me you would never die. But on that morning, God saw you and put your broken heart to rest. Mom was waiting for you. So, He put His arms around you and whispered, 'come with me.' When I found you, I screamed this couldn't be. Why both my parents were taken from me! A golden heart stopped beating that day, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me that he only takes the best. With tearful eyes, I know that was our last good-byes. I will love you forever and I can never say "good-bye." Love, Erikka, your 'cake-a-roni.' Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
