DR. MICHAEL STITT Dr. Jeffrey Michael Stitt, 57, of Henderson, was killed in an ultra light airplane crash July 16, 2009. He was born Sept. 22, 1951, in Pittsburgh, and was a 29-year resident of Nevada. Michael died with a smile on his face, living his life to the fullest. He was a man of exceptional intelligence, with a big heart. He was a traveler, an adventurer and an exceptional professor at UNLV for 29 years. He loved teaching and loved his students, and most of all, he was a loving father and husband. Michael passed on too soon. We found him far too late in our lives and had the chance to spend only 15 short years with him. And boy could he cook! He was a connoisseur of food, books, and cats, and a man of incalculable brilliance, though without pretension. Michael was an absolute delight to be around, and he will be missed. Words cannot express how much he meant to us. Michael is survived by his wife, of 15 years, Emire Stitt; and son, Vesko Dinev. A memorial service to celebrate the wonderful life of this great man will be held on his birthday, Tuesday, Sept. 22, at UNLV, time to be determined. A scholarship will be set up in the name of Dr. Stitt. Details will be announced at the UNLV memorial service.
