JOHN MCINTYRE John Loran McIntyre, 78, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Oct. 22, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 2, 1934 in Ashland, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orin and Lillian; sisters, Alice Hoffman and Mary Coombs; and brother, William. John is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, of 55 years, Donna; his daughters, Kelly Thomas (David) and Jeanie Maier; sons, John L. II (Samantha) and James Patrick (Jennifer); 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. John served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and the U.S. Army before joining the Las Vegas Police Department in 1960. He retired from the Metropolitan Police Department in 1984 after 24 years of service. John Enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing dominoes, traveling and watching football. He loved spending time with his family, making bread, and praying the Rosary. John used his talents to help others and serve the Church. He was dedicated to God, his family, and his country. Our family is forever grateful for his love, devotion, faith, and Irish sense of humor. Although we will deeply miss him, he will be in our hearts and thoughts until we join him in Heaven. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 220 N. 14th St., Las Vegas. Private family burial will take place at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City.
