JUDY HUTCHINGS Judy Carol Hutchings, beloved wife of Joseph Hutchings for 40 years, passed away Sept. 15, 2012, after a long battle fought with great courage, good humor and never wavering optimism. Judy Galasso was born Dec. 16, 1947, in Easton, Pa. Her family relocated to Las Vegas in 1956 and she chose to remain here for her entire life. She attended St. Anne's Catholic School, John C. Fremont Junior High and graduated from Bishop Gorman High School, class of 1965. She studied psychology at UNLV and later used her skills and compassion to counsel women at the Shade Tree Shelter. Long-known for her exquisite taste in fashion and furnishings, she was besieged by requests for guidance that quickly led to a career in interior design. She was the co-founder of two design studios, Grace at Home and Inspired Design. Her talent created beautiful interior settings for homes in The Ridges, Desert Shorts, Anthem and Canyon Gate, as well as vacation homes in southern California and Idaho. Her unique ability to take large, custom houses and instill them with warmth, elegance and intimacy made her much in demand. Still, it is agreed that her most important achievement and greatest legacy is the kindness, wisdom, strength and love she bestowed on everyone who crossed her path. Her beautiful smile and amazing grace will never be forgotten. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; daughters, Eco Shumaker and Antonia Peccole; sons, Jason and Brett; brother, Tony Galasso; two granddaughters, Eva and Blake; and four grandsons, Joe, Jack, Jet and Noah. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Judy's honor to Camp del Corazon, a non-profit organization providing year-round opportunities for children with heart disease: www.campdelcorazon.org
