 LAVERNE GEMMER Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, LaVerne Elizabeth Gemmer, returned home to join our Lord Aug. 5, 2012. A 37-year resident of Las Vegas, she was born Dec. 14, 1912 in Knoxville, Tenn. She grew up in Newport, Ky., and was an accomplished musician and singer who performed in the Cincinnati area. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Gladys and Bernice Foust; husband, John Gemmer; son, William Gemmer; and granddaughter, Kristy Lee Gemmer. She is survived by son, John Gemmer III (Susan); grandchildren, Kristopher Gemmer, Jason Gemmer (Shauna), Kevin Gemmer (Shannon), and Stephen France (Macey); and great-grandchildren, Casey Green (Melissa), Kolby and Kolton France. Laverne was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome and greatly appreciated to Nathan Adelson Hospice in her name.
