LORENZO MAGANA JR. U.S. Air Force, Retired Lorenzo S. Magana Jr., 60, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Jan. 7, 2013, at his home surrounded by family, ending a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 2, 1952, in El Paso, Texas. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. He loved music and played saxophone as a young man. He loved football and never gave up on the Cowboys. He loved running until his health interfered. He loved wine. He loved his work as chief of network support at the U.S. Air Force Weapons School, but, mostly he loved his family and was an amazing husband and father. He is survived by his parents, Lorenzo Sr. and Luz Magana; wife, Sharon; son, Lorenzo III; daughters, Michon Kuti, Tiffany Miller and Veronica Magana; grandchildren, Alyssa, Jai, Lorenzo IV and Francesca; brothers, Rafael Magana and Victor Magana; sister, Martha Payne; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends. We will love him always. Funeral services will be 9:20 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, at Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Kidney Cancer Association or Nevada SPCA.
