LUCY PANETTA Obituary
LUCY PANETTA Lucy Panetta, 96, of Las Vegas, passd away Friday, September 1, 2017. She was born in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York. Lucy was the matriarch behind "The World Famous New York Institution," Rocky Lee Italian Restaurant, on 52nd St. and Second Ave., in New York City, midtown east section of New York. Lucy was the backbone for over 50 years with her family recipes that made thin crust pizza, meatballs cheesecake pastries, etc. that had people come in with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Rudy Giuliani, William B. Williams from the old WNEW radio station, political dignitaries and famous celebrities between 1953-1996. Lucy had a passion for cooking and baking all sorts of goodies for every occasion for every persuasion. Lucy was instrumental in raising a rock solid family including her daughter, Anne Panetta, and son, Vinnie Panetta Jr. (deceased), as well as having two grandchildren, Gianno Buonaguro and Gia Buonaguro. Lucy was a provider and took care of everyone, from her family, to her customers at Rocky Lee, to people off the street. Lucy was of strong Catholic faith and donated money to all sorts of Catholic charities in New York City, as well as in Las Vegas when she moved here permanently in 2005. Living in Las Vegas for the last 12 years of her life, she was very active and even continued to drive until the age of 91. Lucy was one of a kind as she was simply "The Best" and loved and admired by everyone as she was a passionate person in action and words. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Anne Panetta; her grandchildren, Gianno Buonaguro and Gia Buonaguro; and her grandson-in-law, Francesco Tocco. Lucy was one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew and loved her. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Monday, September 11. Services will be Tuesday, September 12, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. Entombment follwing at Palm Valley View Memorial, Park, Legacy Section.
