1950 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
MARGARET ABSHER Margaret "Peggy" (Simpson) Absher passed away September 24, 2017. Her death was due to a six-year battle with breast cancer that spread to her lungs, bones and beyond while under home hospice with her loving husband by her side. She was born November 3, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was an educator for 36 years. In 1973, she began her education career as a teacher for the South Sioux City Community School District, South Sioux City, Nebraska. In 1982, she moved to Henderson, and was employed by the Clark County School District, Las Vegas. For the next 27 years, she served the students of CCSD as a classroom teacher, librarian, and media specialist. In 1983, she had the distinction of being the very first CCSD junior high school librarian to computerize the very first CCSD school library for Kenny C. Guinn Junior High School. During her last seven years with CCSD, she served as a school administrator. In 2002, she began her administrator career as the Coronado High School dean. In 2004, she was appointed to the position of the Silvestri Middle School assistant principal. In 2007, she returned to Coronado High School as the curriculum and testing assistant principal. In 2009, she retired from CCSD due to illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred P. Simpson and Anna Marie (Malloy) Simpson. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, David E. Absher, whom she married June 22, 1990; and her two stepchildren, Kevin D. Absher and Robin D. Absher; and stepgrandson, Anthony D. Absher. Services and burial were conducted privately per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal charities.
