MARVIN VOGEL Marvin "Bud" Vogel, 89, passed away Sept. 7, 2012. He was born in Pocahontas, Iowa, April 4, 1923. Growing up on his parents' farm, he was one of seven children born to Estella and Henry Vogel. At 18, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, VMB-613 Squadron during World War II and was deployed to the South Pacific and the Marshall Islands. Bud was also sent to the Iwo Jima and Okinawa Island conflicts, additionally serving in the Korean War. Back in the States he met Lucille Anderson, and was married July 14, 1951. Moving to southern California, Bud became a land surveyor working with Andreason Engineering in Pomona, Calif. for 32 years. They have four children, Mike (Rochelle), Dave (Debbie), Doug (Myrna), and Diane Valentine (Vic). Growing up in Ontario, Calif. were wonderful years. Taking many trips in the "camper" were great times for us all. After retiring in 1983, Bud and Lucille moved to Hemet, Calif., spending seven years on a small ranch they had. Then, in 1991, they moved to Las Vegas. Bud loved being a caring husband, married to Lucille for 61 years and truly enjoyed being a loving father. He loved watching his children grow up, get married and having families of their own. Bud really enjoyed life, his many grandchildren, traveling, wood working, and telling a good joke. Mostly he enjoyed spending the later years with Mom, remembering all the fun, the good times and the life they shared together. Vistiation will be 3-6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, with a rosary following, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones, Las Vegas, NV 89146. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, at Draper Mortuary 811 N. Mountain Ave. Ontario CA. 91762. Burial will be private at Riverside National Cemetery. Sempir Fi.
