MARY ARMSTRONG Mary Alice Armstrong, 73, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, after a short illness. Mary was born July 3, 1939, in Rome, Ga., to the late J.B and Mary Clemmie (Herrin) O'Neal. Mary worked virtually her entire life and as a financial data analyst at the Watson Wyatt Company for the last 15 years, retiring in 1998, when she was diagnosed with cancer. She moved to Las Vegas in 2001 with her husband, Fred Armstrong. Her hobbies and interests were golfing, traveling, dancing, cooking, good wine and food and physical fitness. She had a great love and a kind heart for animals and birds. Mary belonged to the Women's Golf Club of Siena and the Siena Wine Tasters Club. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Bodie O'Neal. Mary is survived by her husband, of 46 years, Fred Armstrong Jr.; son, Fred Armstrong III (Lisa) of Beaverton Ore.; grandchildren, Dominique and Simon of Beaverton; and brother-in-law, James Armstrong of Boulder City. Mary maintained very close relationships with family members as this was of utmost importance in her life. She had a generous spirit and was a gracious hostess, always putting the needs of others before her own. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. A celebration of Mary's life will be 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Siena Community Center, 10525 Siena Monte Ave., Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Mary be made to the .
