MARY HINSON Obituary
iconMARY HINSON Mary Louise "MaryLou" Hinson, 79, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 after a long illness with COPD. MaryLou was born June 4, 1933 In Montgomery, Ala., to Carter C. and Pauline Hoyle. Growing up during the Great Depression era, she would spend time with her parents and brother in Maryland, and with her grandmother, Louise Hoyle and aunt and uncle, Frances and Wayman "Unc" Johns, in Alabama. She later attended Huntington College in Montgomery. In 1953, she married William Owen Hinson Sr., of Montgomery, and moved to Phoenix, where their three children would be born before residing in Las Vegas in 1963. They were married 22 years. MaryLou would have a variety of jobs during her long life, but her greatest and most rewarding job was with Palm Mortuary, as a preneed counselor for 17 years. She received the Counselor of the Year award for highest sales in 1987. She was a great cook, loved watching the Food Network channel, doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching and betting on football. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carter M. Hoyle; and son, William Owen Hinson Jr. She is survived by her son, Brian Hinson of Las Vegas; daughter, Melissa (Mike) Richardson of Henderson; granddaughters, Carolyn Ernest of Henderson and Courtney Hinson of Brunswick, Ohio; grandsons, Travis and Tanner Richardson of Henderson; great-grandchildren, Destry and Cameryn Kruger of Henderson; sisters-in-law, Kay Hoyle of Lewes, Del., and Emily Hinson Richardson of Prattville, Ala.; her dear friend, of 68 years, Elinor Cloud of Laurel, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Services will be private.
