 MARY LEAVITT Mary Elizabeth McClarren Leavitt, known as Betty, passed away July 9, 2012, in Las Vegas. She was born July 21, 1919, in San Bernardino, Calif. She is survived by her son, William Job Leavitt Jr. and his wifeValerie Claire Leavitt. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Claire, Christopher, Holly and Malinda; and 10 great-grandchildren. Betty spent most of her growing up years in Dos Palos, Calif. She met William Job Leavitt Sr. during World War II. Soon after their meeting, William left for Harvard University. Upon his graduation from Harvard Business School, Bill and Betty were married Aug. 10, 1942. Following their marriage, they were stationed at various locations for the U.S. Air Force prior to coming to Las Vegas in 1955 for Bill to serve as wing comptroller at Nellis Air Force Base. Upon Bill's retirement from the Air Force, Bill and Betty went into the real estate business together in Las Vegas. After Bill's death in 1968, Betty continued in real estate until her retirement. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at the LDS Gateway and Wyoming Chapel, 4040 E. Wyoming at Gateway. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Visitation again at 10 a.m., prior to the service at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 21. Interment will follow at Palm Mortuary and Mausoleum, 1325 N. Main St.
