 MAUDE PAYNE Maude Leticia Payne, 92, passed away peacefully at home Dec. 3, 2012. She was born in Kells, County Meath, Northern Ireland June 24, 1920. In the early 1940's, she stayed with her aunt in London and had an apprenticeship in clothing design. In 1943, she met her husband, Roy Payne during World War II, while he was employed as a civilian purchasing agent by Lockheed Overseas Corporation servicing damaged war aircraft at a repair and maintenance base in Northern Ireland. They were married Feb. 19, 1944, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In April 1944, the closing of the base brought Maude and Roy to make their home in Glendale, Calif. They have lived in Las Vegas since the early 1960's. Maude is survived by her husband, of 68 years, Roy Payne; son, Richard Payne of Las Vegas; daughters, Becky Aten of southern California and Debbie Payne of Henderson; grandsons, Raymond Harkins of southern California and Brian Payne of Las Vegas; and great-grandson, Raymond IV. Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial to follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation or the Cleveland Clinic-Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health-Keep Memory Alive.
