 MERRILL ELKINS Merrill L. Elkins, 77, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013. He was born Oct. 23, 1935, in Long Beach, Calif., and was a 16-year resident of Nevada. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and was a retired government social worker. He is survived by his wife, Hermosa Elkins; sons, Merrill Elkins II of Arkansas and Terry Elkins of Ohio; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Road. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7401 Smoke Ranch, Las Vegas, NV 89128. Burial to follow at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
