MAJOR MYRON GREENSTEIN U.S. Air Force, Retired Myron "Mike" Herbert Greenstein, 85, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012. Mike was born Sept. 30, 1926 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Henry J. and the late Evelyn (Herzog) Greenstein. He attended City College of New York and was drafted to play with the Dodgers just as World War II broke out. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and then joined the U.S. Air Force. He was a pilot, flew with the Tuskegee Airmen, and rose to the rank of Major, serving during World War II, Korea and the Vietnam wars, earning a Bronze Star. Mike loved his family and flying. He is survived by his wife, Claire; children, Evelyn Penman, Ruth Vanwinkle, Judith Winstral and Lisa Horowitz (Steve Baker); grandchildren, Josha Hunt Winstral, Niko (Matt) Harrington, Scott (Sophia) Horowitz, April Horowitz, Benjamin Horowitz, Dawn Flinn and Evan Flinn; great-grandchildren, Miles and Daisy Harrington; sisters, Mimi Greenstein and Phyllis (Irving) Katz; and nephew, Paul (Daylin) Schiffman. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City. Donations in Mike's memory may be made to a cancer organization of your choice.
