PAMELA VAN PELT Pamela Kahn Van Pelt, a renown community activist and member of "Who's Who in Black Las Vegas," died June 14, 2012. She was a Grant and Resources Specialist for UNR Cooperative Extension. Pam received her B.S. in health services from California State Hayward University and also her master's in public administration. Pamela served as a member of the Las Vegas Chapter of National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She chaired the Advisory Committee at KCEP/FM radio station and frequently hosted a talk show there. Pam was the development director of KUNR/FM public radio. She was also the development director for the Nevada Opera Association and ambassador for the Eisenhower program. Her latest accomplishment was receiving a Grant and Resources Specialist Emerita Award from University of Nevada Reno June 30, 2011. Pamela is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and William Calvin of Oakland, Calif.; granddaughters, Bryttney and London Hall and Adrionna Ramsey; and a host of relatives, extended family and friends who will miss her greatly. There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Champion Center, 3900 E. Bonanza Road, Las Vegas. Interment will be in the San Francisco Bay area, date pending.
