PATRICIA SMITH-RAY Patricia L. Smith-Ray entered her eternal home Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, with family and many friends at her hospice bedside. Born March 16, 1956, in Los Angeles, to Dr. B.G. and Barbara Smith, she moved to Las Vegas in 1962, graduated from Bishop Gorman High School in 1974 and attended the University of New Mexico. She worked for her father as a dental assistant until 1983, when she became a nail technician. Patti married the love of her life, Scotty Ray, in 1996, and together they enjoyed many motorcycle rides and Dumont trips with family. In April 2012, she was diagnosed with cancer and with her devoted mother by her side, left for Arizona to receive cancer treatments until Aug. 29, 2012, when she returned home. Patti is survived by her mother, Barbara; her husband, Scotty; sons, William and Shane; daughter, Amber; brothers, Wally (Cathy) and Brad (Melissa) Smith; sister, Janeen Smith; grandchildren, Matthew and Mallory Ray; five nephews; six nieces; four great-nephews; and two great-nieces. The family thanks everyone for their love, support, prayers and kindnesses shown at this extremely difficult time. Patti was immeasurably loved and will be missed beyond words. Viewing will be 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, with funeral services following, both at First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 301 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will be at Boulder City Municipal Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Choice Pregnancy Services.
