RACHEL TUNRAREBI Rachel Adekemisola Tunrarebi, 55, a long-time resident of the Las Vegas area, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ July 1, 2012, at the Constance Ephelia Resort, located on the Island of Seychelles. She was born Feb. 7, 1957, in Ijare, Nigeria, to John and Esther Obijoke Odumakinde. She found her soul mate and partner for life at the age of 14 and married Bolujo F. Tunrarebi 15 years later at St. Peters Church in Ijare. Rachel received a bachelor of science in biochemistry and molecular biology from Mills College in 1978. She continued her education at the University of California, San Francisco, and later transferred to Idaho State University, from which she received her doctor of pharmacy degree in 1996. Rachel completed her residency in Henderson. Rachel went on to work for Sav-On Pharmacy and for Veteran Affairs as a clinical pharmacist. During that time, she received many awards and honors from Wal-Mart and Veteran Affairs for her diligent work in providing the most exceptional care for her patients. While at the Veteran Affairs Clinic, she became the head of the pain management clinic, as well as founded many different departments within the Veteran Affairs location in which she worked. Within that time as well, the Lord called her husband, Bolu, home to be with him after a long battle with bone marrow cancer. Rachel stayed persistent in her faith and strong for her children. In 2008, Rachel was honored as a delegate for the democratic convention under President Obama. She was personally invited to Washington, D.C. and attended Obama's inauguration, as well as the main inaugural ball. From her unbreakable and unshakable faith to the intimate relationship she possessed with the Jesus Christ, Rachel was a prayer warrior like no other who knew, trusted and believed that the Lord her God was the provider of all of her needs according to his riches and glory. The Lord within her was visible to all who crossed her path. Rachel ensured that all that entered her presence were reminded of the goodness of Jesus Christ in addition to the calling and charge he has given us to be good samaritans. She possessed a heart of love and caring as well as a soul of gold dipped in the blood and body of Jesus Christ. Rachel enjoyed dancing, singing and photography. No matter what function, family celebration, or even just everyday life, she was sure to make sure it was documented through film and a memory that had the ability to last a lifetime. She was the life of any party and was sure to walk out of any function with at least 20 new names and faces to add to whom she knew. In as much as Rachel enjoyed smiling, bringing joy and a smile to another's face was always one of her greatest pleasures. She is survived by her children, Ileri, Emmanuel and Tomi; and her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Odumakinde, Olu Odumakinde and Pade Alo. Rachel was blessed to be one of 26 total siblings whom she loved, cared and prayed for daily. There will be a public viewing 3-6 p.m. Friday, July 13. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial following at Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Flowers may be sent to Palm Mortuary and any donations to the family can be made out to the eldest daughter, Ileri Tunrarebi.
