RANDALL CAPURRO Longtime Nevada resident, Randall V. "Cappy" Capurro, passed away peacefully Aug. 13, 2012, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Randy was a third generation native Nevadan born Nov. 30, 1942, in Reno, and was the son of Louis and Genevieve Capurro. Raised in Reno, Randy attended Bishop Manouge High School, where he met his wife, of nearly 50 years, Annette "Netty" Compognoni. After enlisting in and fulfilling his obligations with the United States Coast Guard, Randy joined his father in Reno in the commercial insurance business, where together they ran Capurro Voss Associates. Concurrent with his business career, at the age of 24, Randy successfully ran for and served two terms as a Nevada State Assemblyman representing northern Nevada, and later served as the Nevada State Republican Party Chairman. His many years of public service additionally included multiple terms as a member of the Nevada State Park Commission and Nevada Commission on Ethics. In 1982, the family moved to Las Vegas, where Randy remained active in state politics as he continued his successful insurance career with Capurro Voss and later as a shareholder and partner with Layne and Associates. He retired along with Netty in 1998, but remained active in the Las Vegas business and social networks. Randy had many loves in life, led first by his adoration of his family, his many journeys to Italy with Netty and the family and his 25-year relationship with his beloved Rancheros Vistadores. Over the past 20 years, he rarely missed his weekly Thursday breakfast club meetings with 12 loyal businessmen and friends; and over the years, he could usually be found flying, golfing, hunting, camping, skiing, cooking, travelling, or hobnobbing, most times in some combination of each. Randy was a man who truly enjoyed his life, family and friends and especially his six grandchildren aged one to 17. He genuinely loved people and never met a stranger. His laugh and demeanor were infectious and being around him always made one smile and feel glad to be sharing and enjoying life. Randy is survived by his loving family, wife, Annette; daughter, Gina Gardner (Ken); sons, Tony (Julie) and Christopher (Chrissy); grandchildren, Lucas, Addison and Mallory (Gina and Ken), Katie Ann (Tony and Julie), and Electra and Angele (Christopher and Chrissy); brother, Allen (Carol); and sister, Corine Guio (Bill). Memorial Mass will be at noon Saturday Aug. 18, at Christ the King Catholic Community Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas. A reception at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle, Las Vegas will immediately follow. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas for their devotion and loving care. Memorial donations may be made to the clinic in Randy's name.
