RANDY HARWOOD Randy Harwood, 67, passed away Aug. 14, 2012, at Nathan Adelson Hospice following a long illness. A longtime resident of Henderson, he was a computer science instructor and department chair at College of Southern Nevada. He was born in Englewood, Calif., to Cecil and Emma Harwood, April 9, 1945. Randy graduated from Lutheran High School, Los Angeles in 1963. He graduated from Cal State Long Beach and the University of Texas with a degree in computer science. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gary Harwood of Alaska. He is survived by his wife, Kay Harwood; sons, David Young, Chris Harwood and wife, Carolyn and Jake (Tara) Harwood of California; daughter, Meriah (John) Fike of Washington; and sister, Cecila (Temple) Pace of Texas; six grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; stepchildren, Kim, James (Monique) and Clark (Helen) Newby of Nevada; and seven step-grandchildren. Randy made a positive impact on the lives of those who knew him and he will be greatly missed by his wife, Kay, of 25 years, and friends, family and colleagues. Randy requested cremation at Sunrise Crematory and burial to be at sea in the future. An informal gathering to celebrate Randy's life will be at noon, Saturday, Sept. 8, at O'Callaghan Park, 601 Skyline Road (corner of Horizon), in Henderson. Refreshments will be served.
