RICHARD BENNETT Richard Bennett, "Dick" 78, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Valley Hospital, in Las Vegas, surrounded by family and friends. Dick was born in Chicago, Illinois, spent many years in Country Club Hills, Illinois, and finally retired in Las Vegas in 1997. His entire professional career was spent with Sears Roebuck and Company, starting off on the sales floor and finishing as a Vice President of Leasing in the company's shopping center development arm called Homart Development. However, Dick's true passion was in giving back to the community. In Country Club Hills, as a volunteer fireman, he achieved the position of Assistant Chief of the department along with being a part of the first ambulance crew in the department's history. Upon moving to Las Vegas, Dick spent tens of thousands of hours volunteering with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Volunteer program (MVP) as well as being the President of the Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association. In addition to his volunteer work, Dick was also actively involved in golf, reading and spending time with family and friends. Dick is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Ravae; brother, Thomas (Nadine) Bennett; daughters, Robin (Raymund) Leonas and Linda (Matthew) Bennett-Staresinich; son, Scott Bennett; grandchildren, Andrea, Jason, Melissa, Sydney and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Gavin and Sloane; and numerous other family members. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, located at 8601 Del Webb Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89134, with Pastor David Dendy officiating.
