RICHARD "DICK" WALKOW Obituary
RICHARD "DICK" WALKOW Richard A. "Dick" Walkow, 78, passed away December 15, 2017, at his home in Las Vegas. Born in Erie, Pa. June 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Frederick and Ruth (Nickerson) Walkow. He served with U.S. Army intelligence and security during the Vietnam War and following his honorable discharge, the Seabees in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a lieutenant from the Erie Fire Department. While in Las Vegas, he was a member of the Las Vegas Sail & Power Squadron and served as Commander for three years. He was voted "member of the year" on two occasions. While serving the Erie Fire Department, he spent 15 years researching family history and publishing a book on his Irish heritage with his cousin Kevin O'Brien. Dick enjoyed oil and acrylic painting. He also wrote many recipes. Survivors include his wife, Julie A. (Lacey) Walkow; a daughter, Karen, of Las Vegas; and three other daughters, Wendy Gee (Richard), Debi Kusmierczak (Jim), and Veronica Charette (Keith); a son, Tim Tucker, ; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Service will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
