ROBERT MAHOOD G. Robert Mahood, 94, of Las Vegas, passed away Aug. 22, 2012. He was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Philadelphia. He attended Overbrook High School and joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1941, serving five years as motor machinist mate 1st class and was honorably discharged in July 1946. Robert married Irene Danihel June 19, 1943. Robert and Irene moved to Las Vegas in 1967. He drove a taxi cab then retired from the Culinary Union as a bellman in 1984. Irene preceded him in 1985. Robert reconnected with a former neighbor, Lois Knudson Rodman. They married in August 1986. They enjoyed cruising, dancing and playing bridge. Lois preceded him in death in 2007. Robert quietly passed away with family members near. He is survived by three nieces, Bette Lou Schaum of Las Vegas, Carleen (Bud) Adler of Florida and Janet Rounds of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by three nephews, Spencer (Nyla) Mahood of Florida, and Charles Danihel and Richard Danihel of Pennsylvania; many great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews. He left a great legacy and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Palm Mortuary-Downtown, 1325 N. Main St.
