ROBERT SAYRE Robert E. "Buck" Sayre of Boulder City, passed away Feb. 9, 2017, at Infinity Hospice, in Las Vegas. He fought cancer valiantly for 24 years. He was born Jan. 15, 1939, to Elmer R. Sayre and Minerva L. Sayre, in Fort Atkinson, Wis. He graduated from Jefferson High School (1957) and University of Wisconsin, Whitewater (1962). Buck received his master of science in education in 1966. He married Bonnie Dean Sayre Aug. 15, 1964. Buck taught and coached for nine years in School District 300 in Carpentersville, Ill., where he coached football and was the head basketball coach at Crown High School, where his team won the conference title in 1970 with a 20-4 season. He was a teacher, assistant principal and principal of both Dundee High School in Dundee, Ill., as well as Crown High School in Carpentersville. He retired and moved to Boulder City in 2001. He will be missed for his wit and humor, his love for the Green Bay Packers, his love of fishing and hunting and his love for playing craps. Thank you to the dealers at the Fiesta Henderson for helping him at the table in his final days. He leaves behind his wife, of 52 years, Bonnie; two sons, Todd D. Sayre of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Robert J. Sayre (Emily) of Lexington, Mass.; two grandsons, Henry M. Sayre and William A. Sayre; brother, Charles Sayre (Helen) of Sebring, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Dianne Corrigan of Reno, and Joan Yount of Santa Cruz, Calif.; nieces; nephews; and a special friend, Steve Malo. Celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
