1983 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
SERENA QUIGLEY-OWEN Serena Rose Quigley-Owen passed away May 31, 2017. She was born April 23, 1983, at RAF Lakenheath, England to M/Sgt John and Pamela Quigley and moved to Henderson in November 1983. Serena attended Gordon McCaw Elementary, Brown Junior High and Basic High schools. She was in Key Club and president of the German club. She received her Associate's Degree in 2005 from CCSD. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout and she played softball with the City of Henderson. She was known by her team mates and opponents as the "Girl Babe Ruth." She could hit and catch a ball with power and keen dexterity that was amazing. Serena inherited a love of horticulture from her Mom and could frequently be found working at the family plant nursery. At 16, she took a job working for ATV Action Tours as an administrative assistant. In 2004, Serena joined work family at St. Rose Dominican Hospital de Lima and soon became a valued part of the Environmental Services Team. She worked there until December 2016, when she took a position as an office assistant at St. Rose's Siena Campus. In 2006, Serena had scrimped and saved enough money to take a trip of a lifetime to Europe, where she visited England, Scotland and France. Her love of travel took her from coast-to-coast in the US, too, as she sought out new places and experiences. She took great pleasure in nature and all its beauty, finding joy in every flower and a friend in every creature she met. In 2011, Serena met Rhys Owen, and they made an instant connection. Within months it was apparent to both of them that they had each met the love of their lives and they were married later that year. They shared a love for travel, fine food and obscure humor. Serena was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Helen Quigley, Francis White, Joanne and Forbes Reynolds; her brother, Sean Quigley; aunt, Barbara LaFontaine; uncles, John White and Dan Quigley; and cousin, Mindy White. Serena is survived by her husband, Rhys Owen; stepdaughter, Holly-Marie Owen; parents, John and Pamela Quigley; brother, Ryan Quigley; nephews, Chase, Dakota, Gage and Cooper Quigley; uncles and aunts, Bill Quigley, George and Cathy White, Francis and Jenni White, David and Debra Kaspick, Darwin and Drema Zupke, and Richard and Susan White; her 11 cousins; her puppy-baby, Ladybug; mini tiger, Ziggy; and her green Iguanas, Daisy and Zeus. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Community Church of Henderson, 360 E. Horizon Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that live plants be brought to be planted in her garden at home after the service. "Gone too soon, a piece of our hearts go with you, but you will forever remain in our souls and in our spirits."
