SHIRLEY KOCMAN Shirley Kocman, 79, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Sept. 10, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was a long-time resident of Las Vegas, a successful businesswoman, popular friend and companion, and a devoted and loving mother and loving grandmother. Shirley was born in Los Angeles June 4, 1933. She spent part of her childhood in Williams, Ariz. before returning to Los Angeles, where she attended Gardena High School. Born to Knute and Madge Cochran, she was raised with her brother, Jimmy, by her mother and stepfather, Henry Strickland. Shirley raised her five children in Anaheim, Calif., where she established herself in the advertising industry. Together, they established Plus Events, a successful trade and consumer expo company and moved their enterprise to Las Vegas. She and Harry continued their successful collaboration in life and in business, in Las Vegas until her passing. A dedicated and loving mother, she was sadly preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Rhonda Maus. She is survived by four children, Kim Shaw (Bill), Kathy Benz (Bill), Karen Woodruff (Brian) and Chris Kocman (Sabrina); and five grandchildren, Wayland, Hailey, William, Jack and Carolina, her greatest enjoyment. She will be remembered by her friends and family as hard-working, compassionate, and fun-loving, with a twinkle in her eye and kind smile. She will be missed by all who knew her.
