Obituary Condolences

SIMONE CAU Simone Paule Cau, of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., formerly of Paris, France, New York City, and Las Vegas, died peacefully Friday evening, May 31, 2013, at Anna's Healthcare in Sturgeon Bay, with her daughter, Denise Haen, and close family friend, Janice Haen, at her side. She was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Paris, the daughter of the late Paul and Marie Bouigue Girault. Upon her graduation from high school in 1933, Simone emigrated from France to the United States in Stamford, Conn., along with her sister to join their mother. Simone learned English in school and attended cosmetology school during which time she also received her U.S. citizenship. She then moved to New York City, where she met and married Maurice Cau, Feb. 5, 1943. Simone worked at Leonce Beauty Salon until 1953. She along with her husband and daughter moved to Las Vegas, where she worked at Edwards Beauty Salon in the Sahara Hotel for well over 25 years after which she worked at other beauty salons in Las Vegas. In 1996, Simone retired in Sturgeon Bay, along with her daughter and son-in-law. Simone was a member of the Catholic church all of her life. She was most recently attending St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, where her daughter, Denise, is a member. Throughout her life, Simone enjoyed knitting, cooking, working in her yard and especially traveling to Tahiti, Hawaii, Italy, Switzerland, Monaco and most of all revisiting France. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice Cau; sister, Suzanne Larre; and son-in-law, David B. Haen. Simone will be deeply missed by her daughter, Denise Haen of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Deborah Haen and Nicolle Haen-Carneado of Biloxi, Miss.; Christopher Haen of Las Vegas; and all of the Haen families. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, with Rev. Robert Konkol OFM as celebrant. Family and friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Simone's memory to SouthernCare Hospice, 1800 W. Mason St., Green Bay, WI 54303. Huehns Funeral Home of Sturgeon Bay is assisting the family with arrangements.
