STEVEN POWELL Steven Powell, 62, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. He was born Aug. 14, 1950, in St. Francis, Kan. Steven was a floor supervisor at the Flamingo Hilton, where he worked for 34 years, and a resident of Nevada since 1968. As a teenager, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Steve was a Freemason, member of Oasis Lodge #41, and Zelzah Shrine Temple. Known as "Dewey" to many, he was a member of the Shrine Clowns. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Claudette; and his parents, Joyce and Merlyn Powell. Steve is survived by his wife, Laura Jo; daughters, Stephanie and Shannon; stepsons, Shane and Zachary; and sisters, Myrna and Cheryl. He will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Masonic Memorial Temple, 2200 W. Mesquite Ave. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be sent to the Zelzah Shrine Transportation Fund, 2222 W. Mesquite Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89106.
