 VENOR MOODY Venor Wright Moody, 86, of Las Vegas, died peacefully Dec. 10, 2012. Ven was born in Hinckley, Utah, April 18, 1926, to Bryant and Laverna Moody. After graduation from Hinckley High School in 1944, he was drafted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard a transport ship in 1945, bringing troops home from the Pacific Theatre. Ven married Velora Dawn Kelly in 1944 and settled in Delta, Utah after the war, where they had three children, Michael, Charalyn and Patricia Jo. In 1956, Ven moved his young family to Las Vegas, where he lived until 1961. After he and Dawn divorced, he moved to Alaska for several years, enjoying hunting and fishing. Ven returned to Las Vegas in 1969, and worked for his brother-in-law, Marlow Cropper, at Corral Coin, until he retired in 1989. Ven married Rhea Beard in 1988 and they loved to travel the world from New Zealand to Rio. He is survived by his wife, Rhea; brother, John Moody; sister, Mary Christiansen; son, Michael (Ann); stepchildren, Terry Beard, Richard Beard and Patti Jackson; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
