WILLIAM CONGER William O. Conger, a Las Vegas native, born Feb. 8, 1926, passed away Nov. 18, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. "Wild Bill" served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a tail gunner in the Pacific Theater, where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a 22-year veteran of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and retired as a commander in 1979. He retired from the Nevada Test Site in 1992 after 11 years. He is survived by Glenna, his wife, of 65 years; children, William G. (Alexia), David, Jeri and Judy; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered as an unmatched storyteller, who loved to race cars, travel, sail and spend time with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate in William's name to the Wounded Warriors Project or Nevada SPCA, two organizations he loved. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S.
