WILLIAM STAPLES Bill Staples, 86, was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Oakland, Calif., and left his loved ones the day following his 86th birthday, Dec. 22, 2012, after a 27-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. A life-long cabinet maker, he owned Bill Staples' Cabinet Shop. For many years, Bill shared his love of the art of cabinetry by teaching cabinet making through UNLV's continuing education program. He loved to teach as much as he loved to learn and also had a great love for cooking, reading, travel, adventure, motorcycling and canoeing. He especially loved the time he spent during his youth in the mining town of Kimberly, Utah, and his middle school years in Richfield, Utah. His most enjoyable times were preparing gourmet meals for family and friends, and sitting around the dinner table sharing stories. He was never at a loss for words and had a wonderful sense of humor. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, of 46 years, Sylvia Staples; brother, Leslie Staples (Colleen) of Ely; son, Paul Staples (Arlene) of Washington; daughter, Nickiann Staples of California; son, Joe Staples (Robyn) of Utah; daughter, Kimberly Watson (Greg) of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at noon, Saturday, Dec. 29, at the LDS chapel, 3300 N. Buffalo Drive, Las Vegas.
