1943 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
JOSEPHINE SNEDECOR Josephine Stowers Snedecor, "Jo," of Las Vegas, passed away March 30, 2014. She was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Fordyce, Ark., to the union of Bessie L. Johnson and John E. Stowers. She was one of seven children. Shortly after, the family relocated to Las Vegas, where she attended Las Vegas High School. Josephine accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and grew in her relationship with Christ under the leadership of Bishop Clyde C. Cox. In 1959, Jo meet and married Leroy Snedecor. To their union were born their son, Legary, and two daughters, Cassandra and Melasand. Jo was employed at Mom's Kitchen as a cook and, later, went to the Town Tavern as a waitress. In 1996, she started at the Rio, in the EVS department, until her death. She was a dedicated and loyal employee, loving her Rio family as if they were her own. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Snedecor; parents, John E. Stowers and Bessie L. Johnson; brothers, JW Stowers, Willie Stowers, Otis Stowers, Samuel Stowers and Morris Stowers; sister, Alma J. Givens; grandson, Kendrick Lamar Stowers Coleman; and great-grandson, Ty Williams. Jo leaves to treasure her legacy one son, Legary Stowers; two daughters, Cassandra Williams (Larry) and Melasand Stowers, all of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Roy and Anthony; one stepdaughter, Tarina; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jackson and Eunice Stowers of Las Vegas; three grandsons, Myron Williams (Gyda), La Var Stowers Coleman and Wilbert Davis; three granddaughters, Ebony Stowers, Sha-Rose Davis, Chaz Ross and Scqouia Davis; 14 great-grandchildren; four special nieces, Tiny, Roslyn, Kinika and Isis; three special nephews, Stevie, Alfred and lil Derrick; a very special friend and sister-in-law, Dorothy Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Visitation will be 1:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Heritage Mortuary, 3610 N. Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 1941 H St. Interment will follow services at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
