TROY SMITH Troy Morgan Smith, 44, of Las Vegas, passed away March 26, 2009. He was born Dec. 23, 1964, in Rapid City, S.D., and was a 22-year resident of Nevada. Troy grew up and attended school in Newcastle, Wyo., and graduated Casper College in 1986. He grew up riding various dirt bikes with his father, Jerry, and brother, Timm. He was an avid bowler and archer growing up. He liked to hunt as a teenager and loved to camp all over Wyoming with his father, brother and cousins. Troy moved to Las Vegas in 1987 to go to work in the home building industry. He always excelled wherever he was employed, rising from superintendent to senior vice president of construction for Astoria Homes. Troy met his true love, Sandye, in 1989, and they wed in 1990. He loved his wife and family very much. Troy and Sandye traveled all over the world, taking trips a couple times a year to various destinations. He rode Harley Davidsons with his close friends, loved his big Ford trucks and his Shelby GT500, constantly tweaking them to their utmost performance and style. Troy hunted with his family and friends in Nevada, going on trips to Texas, Mexico and Colorado many times. Troy was preceded in death by his beloved father, Jerry Smith; grandmother, Violet Smith; grandparents, James and Edna Auker; uncles, Dennis Pepper and Mack McCormick; and mother-in-law, Lillian Wilson. Troy is survived by his wife, Sandye, of Las Vegas; mother, Ray Smith of Newcastle, Wyo.; brother, Timm Smith and wife, Sandy, and their two children, Shawn and Veronica, of Casper, Wyo.; grandfather, Donald Smith of Rapid City, S.D.; aunts, Laura Pepper of Rapid City, Kay Browning of Casper, Wyo., and Wanda McCormick of Rapid City; and uncles, Jim Auker of Mesa, Ariz., and Bill Browning of Casper. In Las Vegas, he is survived by his father-in-law, Arthur Wilson Sr.; brother-in-law, Darren Wilson and wife, Cheryl, and their two children, Cole and Cassidy; sister, Lisa Timm and husband, Gregory, and their daughter, Lindsay Cook and husband, Sam, and their daughter, Launa; sister-in-law, Debra Wilson and her two children, Paul Hughett and Jamie Bond; and brother-in-law, Wayne Wilson and wife, Wendy, and their three children, Bobby, Ryan and Ian. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A gathering with family will follow the service, from 3-7 p.m., at Dean's Place, 8355 Dean Martin Drive, Las Vegas (across from the Silverton Hotel).
