Milton Shapiro Obituary
MILTON SHAPIRO Milton Shapiro passed away peacefully one month after his 88th birthday, surrounded by his loved ones, Nov. 20, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., October 19, 1922, the second child of Abraham and Ethel Shapiro, and spent his formative years in Brighton Beach. He served with distinction for five years during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps, as a top turret gunner on the B-24 Liberator. After the war he worked for the New York Daily News in their delivery department, retiring after 45 years, and proudly bragging that he never received a traffic violation. His retirement was happily and leisurely spent mastering the art of surf fishing around the various beaches in the New York metropolitan area. His life was made even richer by his relationship with his long-time love Natalie Rynston. He is survived by his loving family; his sister, Florence Sokoloff; his brother and sister-in-law, Mel and Florence Shapiro, predeceased by his brother, Phil Shapiro. Our Uncle Milty also leaves behind his many beloved nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at noon Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S.
