Obituary Condolences

STERLING BAWDEN Sterling Ellis Bawden, 68, returned to his Heavenly Father, June 28, 2011. He was born March 26, 1943, in Murray, Utah. He moved to Las Vegas in January of 1946, with his parents and siblings and went to school here. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, his mother signed for him to join when he was 17. He liked to race motorcycles and dune buggies with his sons. He was a second generation glazier, working for Wilgar Brothers Glass for many years and then Bawden and Sons Glass. He owned a motel on Main St., many years and then moved to Montana for four years, where he bought a ranch. He had farm animals and two horses. He was a breeder of dogs, Cocker Spaniels and Doberman Pintchers. He was a ham radio operator. He loved to fly, owned two different planes and performed aerobatics. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, travel and spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Forest Arden Bawden; and brothers, Barry Lynn Bawden and Marvin Ray Bawden. He is survived by his mother, Fidella Bawden; sister, Ardella B. Tjaden; brother, Leslie A. Bawden of Las Vegas; sister, Linda B. Black of Grover Beach, Calif.; his children, Theresa Gay Monsouir, Sterling A. Bawden Jr., and Eric C. Bawden, all of Las Vegas, Keith R. Bawden of St. George, Utah, and Kara Andert of Vernal, Utah; also nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 9, with funeral to follow, both at the LDS Church, 4040 E. Wyoming, Gateway and Wyoming. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Bunkers Mortuary in Las Vegas is taking care of arrangements.
