DONALD DEXTER Donald Oliver "Don" Dexter, 89, of Sun City, Calif., passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., Sept. 26, 1922 and had been a resident of Las Vegas for 53 years. He was retired from E.G. & G and served in the United States Army during World War II. Don was a true American with a dedicated passion for his country. He displayed his patriotism by flying an American flag in front of his home. As a victor of the Great Depression, Don stands as a timely example of the rewards gained via courage, perseverance, and hope that can inspire the most challenged. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of 62 years, Esther; and beloved son, Gary. Don is survived by his daughter, Gennyne Walker and her husband, Alec, of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; son, Greg Dexter and his wife, Connie, of Quail Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Nikki Brock and Zach Dexter of Quail Valley, Calif.; great-grandsons, Saxon and Kai Brock; sisters, Susan Arroyave of Houston, and Ginny Murphy of Plattsburg, N.Y.; numerous nieces and nephews, treasured life-long friends and his amazing caregiver and beloved dog, Sami. Visitation noon-1:30 p.m. Friday Jan. 13, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. "We will dearly miss our dad, grandpa, great papa, companion and friend."
