Edward Koehler Obituary
EDWARD KOEHLER Edward Bernhard Koehler passed away quietly at home Jan. 22, 2012 at the age of 93. He was born in Reichenbach, Germany and came to the United States as a child with his parents and settled in Massachusetts. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a certified airplane mechanic, working on the Republic P-47 "Thunderbolt" and other aircraft. He married Doris Schneider before being shipped out to Europe. After wartime, he returned to Massachusetts where he raised his family. By day, he was a tool and die maker for Reed and Barton Silver Company and weekend nights he played accordian in area dine and dance clubs with his band, "Carioca Coolas". He has resided in Las Vegas over 34 years, playing the accordian in many local clubs, including The Bavarian Chalet. He also played with the "Alpiners" with a long-time family friend. He was preceded in death by Doris, his wife, of 67 years. He is survived by his daughters, Loretta O'Brien and Joanna (Ronald) Ebner; son, Paul (Davina) Koehler; grandsons, Glen (Shanti), Brian (Lisa), John (Stephanie), and Gary Koehler; granddaughter, Tiffany Koehler; great-grandchildren, Heidi, Alek, Tabitha, and Faith Koehler; stepgreat-grandchildren, Beth Ann Preston, Mark (Janella) Preston and their children. Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans.
