JOHN NOGAFKA John Nogafka, 87, of Las Vegas, formally of Chicago, passed away May 10, 2012, after a long batter with cancer. He was born Feb. 4, 1925 in Chicago. John served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a Chicago police officer for 28 years until retirement. He and wife, Lucille, moved to Las Vegas 22 years ago. John worked for nine years for Local #631 at the Convention Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Patano Nogafka; parents, John and Anna; and brothers, Robert and Stanley. John is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Bud) Wilson of Reno. He was the beloved uncle of Peggy Dunham, and her husband, Pat; Peggy and John Nogafka; and godson, Alex Patano. No local services. Memorial Mass and burial will take place in Chicago.
