Obituary Condolences

HARRY GERENSTEIN Harry Gerenstein, 95, of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. Harry was born Aug. 8, 1917, in New York City, the son of the late Jacob and the late Bertha Gerenstein. He was married to his wife, of over 53 years, Paula Korentur, until her passing in January 2001. Harry served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Dec. 9, 1942 to Dec. 3, 1945, and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service medal, the Good Conduct medal, the World War II Victory medal, and American Service medal. He was a retired plumber/foreman in the construction industry. An independent and spirited man, Harry led a very full life. He loved to play and watch tennis and worked out at the gym regularly until he reached 92. He was a proud member and served as commander of the Jewish War Veterans, Greenspun-Radin Post 21, responsible for organizing their Poppy Drive. Harry spent a great deal of time volunteering at the local veterans' hospital, visiting with and raising the spirits of veteran patients. He was a gifted stained glass artist who made beautiful gift pieces for family and friends. He is survived by his son, Robert (Marcia) Gerenstein of Verona, N.J.; daughter, Carol Gerenstein of Las Vegas; and grandsons, Scott Gerenstein of Los Angeles, and Adam Gerenstein of Verona. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas. Burial will be at 1:20 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City.
