He spent most of his early life in Augusta, Ga., and Chattanooga. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from July 5, 1945 to Aug. 19, 1946, as a seaman second class. After he came to Las Vegas in 1965, Jim was a well-respected singer on the strip for many years. Jim performed with such greats as Betty Grable, both in Las Vega and on the road. For over 42 years, he was active in the First Church of Religious Science, where he soloed during services several times a year and regularly invited show business celebrities to perform at the church. Such greats as Joe Williams, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Robert Goulet and other lead singers from the Strip hotel productions enlivened the congregants for many years.
